Teen Naltrexone poisoning due to a child's accidental ingestion: experience with a case in a Northern Ireland regional hospital. Naltrexone is a peripherally acting mu-opiate receptor antagonist extensively used in the treatment of alcohol dependence. It is increasingly used in the management of opioid addiction in children, but can result in toxicity and death. Despite an increase in naltrexone prescriptions in the Republic of Ireland, only relatively few overdose/toxicity cases have been reported. This report describes a case of a boy aged 4 years given naltrexone to manage an opioid addiction, in which he accidentally ingested approximately 20 mg/kg of the drug. He was found to be unconscious, and presented to the accident and emergency department (A&E), where he was treated as an encephalopathic patient with findings consistent with opiate overdose (i.e. coma, respiratory depression, CNS depression, and hypotension). He was extubated, and returned home uneventfully after treatment with benzodiazepines. His serum naltrexone level at admission was 5428 ng/mL. His serum naltrexone level subsequently fell to 35 ng/mL after > 7 days on naltrexone treatment. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a case of naltrexone poisoning in a paediatric patient involving the accidental ingestion of naltrexone tablets. Given the growing popularity of this agent in the management of children with opioid addiction, it is important to emphasise that this case report highlights the need for suitable precautions to be taken with the handling of tablets containing this drug. Those responsible for the management of opioid addiction in children, in particular, must ensure that the naltrexone tablets are stored in a cool, dry place. synchronizing to the new file and finish the upload. Why is the name of the file called toshiba2 rather than the actual file name Because when you access your NAS via FTP you refer to files on the device not the actual file name. As soon as you do, the file is renamed and the new file name is referred to. What is the advantage of using a NAS The reason why this might be the best and preferred method is because it provides you with much better data redundancy. If one platters fails, your data is safe. You can restore the data. d2c66b5586
